MISSION/CHARITIES
Hippo Cross 2018 will be a day of fun for the whole family. Through the fast and furious cyclocross racing, concurrently held Ride Strong Roubaix charity ride, beautiful natural setting, food drink, music, and camraderie we aim to bring together the community and generate support for several worthy causes. For our 4th year the proceeds will benefit four worthy charitable causes. The Cancer Support Community, American College of Rheumatology, and Cystic Fibrosis Foundation are charitable non-profit organizations passionate about supporting patients and their families as they cope with their related afflictions. These are all diseases that can strike at anytime and can leave individuals scared and alone. But compassionate and experienced support organizations such as these help patients and their families find hope. Also, as in past years, Hippo Cross supports the Dan Wilson Family Memorial Fund. The fund benefits the wife and children of Dan Wilson who was a loving father, husband, and family man. He was also a passionate cyclist and competed on the road, mountain, and cyclocross. The fund helps the family cope with the fees associated with their loss.

COURSE DESCRIPTION
New venue for 2018! Overall the course covers a variety of terrain including grass covered slopes that offer fast descents and aggressive off camber turns. At the bottom of the course lies a wooded section of roughly 300 meters that will require racers to pick one of many lines through the technical rooted terrain, skill wins over power in this section. A grinding power climb past the team tents and the band stage puts the race back on level ground and in the direction of the finish line. The final 500 meters will consist of a fast flat grassy stretch leading to a series of turns that will set racers up for a sprint to the finish on freshly paved asphalt – prime for an all out drag race to the finish.
